Who I am
My name is Jeff Kolker, as you probably already know. I'm older than I feel, but younger than I should be with kids that are in there 20's. Let's just say I'm in my early 40's.
I am not married, but currently engaged to the lovely Miss Catalina Nistor. The wedding will be in November of this year. I have 2 daughters. Krista is 24 and is now in Halifax, Canada going back to school. She's now attending Mount St. Vincent University. Nicole is 21, and is going to the University of Oklahoma. Both my kids are legal....amazing that they and I both survived that long. I think they both graduate in 2009.
My parents live in Tulsa, Oklahoma, along with my grandmother. I also have a brother, Chris, who is a doctor. He, his wife and two sons just moved back to Clinton Oklahoma.
What I am
I am a Certified Public Accountant, and have been since 1990. I am a graduated Validictorian of Pryor High School (the link is the the school system, as the High School website is embarassingly out of date) in 1984. After that, I went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude at the University of Tulsa in 1988.
I am a member of the Episcopal Church, but I do not have the best attendance record. I belong to several organizations, and am a member of Sertoma, Oklahoma Society of CPA's, and currently serve as president of the local United Way chapter. Politically, I am a registered Democrat, though I am not a slave to any one party's dogma. Personally, I feel that neither party is worth the effort and just wish that there were alternatives in this two party system.
As for what I like to do in my spare time, I love to travel, listen to good music ("good" is always relative, so it just means "good to me"), watch fun movies and an occasional live theater show, read and collect comic books, and play on the computer. Not too complicated. As Popeye used to say, "I am what I am, and that's all that I am".
Where I am
I currently live in the small town of Pryor Creek, which is in the northeast section of Oklahoma. (click here for a map) I often joke that Pryor is "in the center of the country, and in the middle of nowhere". However, I am JOKING...its really not that bad at all. Pryor is a nice little town not far from Tulsa. Far enough to avoid most of the "big city" problems but close enough to easily drive there. Other places I have lived include Tulsa, Sacramento and Lake Tahoe, California, and Reno and Fallon, Nevada.
I live alone in my house, really alone now that Nicole has taken her two cats with her to Norman. I finally can go into the living room without being suffocated by the cat hair floating about the place. It's like the size of my house has doubled.
Why I am
Okay, if I could answer that question, I would have all the answers. Why am I here? Why are any of us here? A question for the ages..... philosphy is not my strongest subject. Just glad that I'm here.
