Tax season is over, and I'm glad. It takes a lot of someone to work 15 or 16 hours a day seven days a week. Working 8 to 5 seems like a vacation...well, almost anyway. So....now at least I have time to indulge in a few things I like to do. Contrary to some people's opinion, I do not live to work. I work to do the things that make life worth living.
I've always like taking pictures and enjoy playing with my digital camera. However, as a photographer I make a very good accountant. Just not the artsy type. But I do try. And now I've discovered digital painting... taking my photographs and turning them into actual paintings.

Above is a picture of the Metropolitan Cathedral in Iasi, Romania. The Cathedral was just down the street from where I stayed. When I would walk out of the courtyard to my apartment, turn to the right, this is what I saw. This is actually the back of the Cathedral, the front looks even more impressive, but for some reason I prefer the tree lined back. Seems more peaceful...

The above painting is of three vases I purchased on my last trip to Romania. Notice that the designs are colored Yellow, Red and Blue, which are the colors on the Romanian flag. Probably not an accident they came this way, I'm thinking... The picture was originally taken as they sat on my fireplace mantle. The painting is taken from that picture.
While not an artist, I thought the paintings turned out quite nice. I'm working on a few more, and will see how they come out. I may post more here if they look halfway decent.
